These terms govern use of pitstonetraining.co.uk and purchases of online training from Pitstone Training Ltd. Effective date: 25 September 2026.
About Pitstone Training
Pitstone Training is a trading name of Pitstone Training Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 17337514. Our registered office is 118 Westfields, Stanley, England, DH9 7DF. In these terms, 'Pitstone', 'we', 'us' and 'our' mean Pitstone Training Ltd.
Who these terms apply to
These terms apply to people using our website, individuals buying training for themselves or another learner, and organisations purchasing training for employees or other learners. A 'customer' is the person or organisation placing the order. A 'learner' is the person who will complete the course.
If you place an order for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation. Website purchases must be made by someone aged 18 or over. Please contact us before purchasing for a learner under 18 so we can confirm that the course and arrangements are suitable.
Course information
Each course page describes the subject, approximate duration, delivery method, assessment, certificate or course outcome, price and any important conditions known to us. Course durations are estimates and learners may take more or less time.
The course page states the completion requirements, assessment format where applicable, and certificate or recognition available. These e-learning courses do not include a regulated qualification or a separate qualification examination unless expressly stated. A completion certificate, CPD recognition and a regulated qualification are different outcomes.
Choosing suitable training
We can help you understand the available courses. Tell us before buying if you need training for a particular role, contract or workplace requirement. Check the course description and any advice we provide against that requirement. This does not reduce our responsibility for the accuracy of our descriptions or advice.
Placing an order
You can review the course, learner details and total price before submitting an order. Your order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we confirm acceptance by email or provide course access, whichever happens first. An email that only acknowledges receipt of an unpaid or unsuccessful order is not acceptance. Contracts are concluded in English. You can save or print these terms for your records.
We may refuse or cancel an order if payment is not authorised, the course is unavailable, information supplied is incomplete or appears inaccurate, the order appears fraudulent, or we cannot lawfully provide the course. If we cancel after taking payment, we will refund the amount paid for the affected course.
Prices and payment
The total price payable is shown before you place your order. Online card payments are processed through Stripe using the payment methods offered at checkout. We are currently not VAT registered and do not add VAT to our selling prices. Employer bookings are payable under the accepted quotation and invoice. If we discover a pricing error before accepting an order, we will ask whether you wish to proceed at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Individual bookings
After successful payment and acceptance, our website normally enrols the named learner automatically through Highfield and the learning platform sends access instructions to their email address. Immediate digital access is subject to the consent explained in our Refund and Cancellation Policy. An order marked “Completed” means the purchase has been fulfilled; it does not mean the learner has completed the training. Contact us if access instructions do not arrive.
Employer and group bookings
An employer should contact Pitstone with the course required and expected number of learners. We will provide a quotation. If the quotation is accepted, we will send a learner information spreadsheet requesting the full name and individual email address of each learner.
Unless the quotation states otherwise, enrolment will be processed after we receive the completed spreadsheet and cleared payment of the invoice. Access may be arranged immediately after processing or for an agreed date chosen by the employer. The quotation, these terms and any written booking details together form the agreement for the group booking.
Learner information
Each learner needs their own email address and individual login. A purchaser buying for themselves may use the same email for billing and learning. If buying for another person, enter that learner’s full name and email in the learner fields. Check spelling carefully because errors can delay access or affect the certificate.
An employer providing learner information confirms that it has authority to provide that information for the booking and has made learners aware that their information will be shared with Pitstone and the organisations involved in course delivery, learner records and certification. Pitstone will also provide learners with access to its privacy notice.
Course access period
Individual courses normally provide 12 months’ access from purchase, unless the course page states a different period before you buy. For employer bookings, the quotation will state the access period and the date it starts. Where we agree delayed access, we will confirm the start and expiry dates in writing.
Learners are responsible for completing the course before their access expires. We may send reminders, but we are not responsible for a learner failing to complete within the access period. Extensions are not guaranteed and may involve an additional charge.
Technical requirements
Learners need a reliable internet connection, an active email account and a device and browser supported by the specific course. Read the technical requirements on the course page before buying. Smartphone support varies by course; do not assume every course works on a phone. Ask us if you are unsure about compatibility or workplace network restrictions.
For help with an order or course access, email info@pitstonetraining.co.uk. We will investigate and, where necessary, raise a technical support request with Highfield. You may also use any learner support route provided within your LMS. Local internet, device or workplace restrictions may require action by the learner or employer. Maintenance or supplier outages do not remove any statutory remedy where the course we supply fails to meet the contract.
Permitted use of a course
A licence is for one named learner. Do not share logins or allow several people to use one licence. Transfers require our prior agreement and depend on whether Highfield permits reassignment. Course material must not be copied, recorded, republished, resold or distributed, except for downloads expressly provided for the learner’s own permitted use.
Assessment and certificates
A certificate is available only when the stated course completion requirements are met, including any assessment that applies. Some courses use learning activities or knowledge checks instead of a formal final assessment. We do not guarantee an assessment pass. Learners must complete any assessment honestly and without unauthorised assistance.
Certificate details and validity may be checked through the relevant integrated verification service where available. If a learner believes that a result or certificate contains an error, they should contact Pitstone promptly so we can investigate.
Course updates and availability
Course content may be updated to reflect changes in guidance, standards, technology or workplace practice. We may withdraw or replace a course where necessary. We will not make a material change that removes the main purpose of a purchased course without offering an appropriate remedy, such as access to a suitable replacement or a refund for the unavailable course.
Cancellations and refunds
Our Refund and Cancellation Policy forms part of these terms. It explains the consumer cancellation period, what happens when immediate digital access is requested, when a course counts as accessed and how employer booking cancellations are handled. Nothing in these terms limits statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Suspending or ending access
We may suspend or end access where there is evidence of account sharing, misuse, fraudulent activity, abusive behaviour, interference with the platform, breach of intellectual property rights or another serious breach of these terms. Where appropriate, we will explain the issue and give the customer a reasonable opportunity to put it right before ending access.
Intellectual property
The website, course materials, branding, text, graphics, assessments and supporting content are protected by intellectual property rights belonging to Pitstone, Highfield or other licensors. Purchasing a course gives the named learner a limited, personal, non-exclusive right to access it during the access period. It does not transfer ownership of any content.
Privacy
We use personal information to manage enquiries, orders, enrolments, course progress, support, certificates, payments and legal obligations. Our Privacy Notice explains what we collect, why we use it, who we share it with and the rights available to individuals.
Our responsibility to consumers
We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made, or business losses arising from a purchase made as a consumer. If incorrect details contribute to a problem, we will assess the circumstances fairly; this does not excuse a failure for which we are responsible.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Our responsibility to business customers
Our responsibility to business customers depends on the contract, the circumstances of any loss and applicable law. Any additional liability provisions for a group booking will be set out in the accepted quotation. Nothing in these terms excludes liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.
Events outside our control
If an event outside our reasonable control delays access, we will explain the problem and take reasonable steps to reduce the delay. If we cannot supply the purchased course within an appropriate time, you may seek the remedy available under the contract or law, including a refund where applicable. You do not have to accept credit or a different course instead of a refund to which you are entitled.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes in law, our services or the systems used to deliver training. The terms applying to a purchase will normally be those provided when the order was placed, unless a change is required by law or is expressly agreed with the customer.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. A consumer may bring proceedings in the courts that apply to their part of the United Kingdom. Business customers agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
